Terms of use and community rules

This is a translation: the French version prevails.

Kwemou is a community of families who trust each other. These rules protect that trust, and above all the children. By creating your family's account, you accept them.

  • 1.What Kwemou is

Kwemou connects families who organize meetups (outings, weekends, dinners, trips) with families who join them. Kwemou is an intermediary: we are not the organizer of the meetups, we do not collect any payments between families, and we do not look after children.

  • 2.Who can join Kwemou

    • Kwemou is open to every family that shares our vision: that children grow up together, proud of Africa.
    • The account is created by an adult who is a parent or legal guardian of the children registered. Children don't have accounts.
    • A family joins Kwemou because a member family invites them, or after approval by our team. In a country we have not opened yet, every account awaits our approval.
    • The information you give about your family must be accurate.
  • 3.Inviting means vouching

    • The inviting family vouches for the invited family: they know them and believe they will follow these rules.
    • Every account keeps a record of who invited whom.
    • If an invited family commits a serious breach, we ask the family who invited them for an explanation. This is not a penalty: it's what holds trust together.
  • 4.Our rules

    • Respect. We respect families, their choices, their languages, their cultures and their beliefs. No insults, no mockery, no discrimination.
    • Keeping your word. We let people know as early as possible if we can't come. No-shows without notice count toward the family's reliability.
    • Photos of children.
      • Meetup photos are visible to members only.
      • We never repost elsewhere (social media, messaging apps, websites) a photo of a child who isn't our own without written consent from their parents.
      • A family can ask for their children's faces to be blurred in meetup photos: we respect that choice before posting.
    • No soliciting.
      • In the kibarazas, on the pages and during meetups: no selling, no tontines (rotating savings groups), no investment schemes, no recruiting, no religious proselytizing, no political propaganda.
      • One exception: a family may present a service for children (language lessons, tutoring, workshops, childcare) in their family introduction. They do not promote it in the kibarazas and do not contact anyone without being invited to.
    • Meetups. The organizer describes the meetup, its program and its budget honestly. They do not ask for money beyond the announced cost sharing.
    • Children's safety comes before everything else. Any behavior that puts a child at risk is reported immediately to our team, and to emergency services or the police if necessary.
  • 5.During meetups

    • Parents remain responsible for their children throughout the meetup, unless families explicitly agree otherwise.
    • The organizer is responsible for the organization: the venue, the program, bookings and the announced budget.
    • Kwemou connects families. We are not an organizer, a transport provider or a childminder, and we do not inspect venues or service providers.
    • We recommend that every family, and organizers in particular, have personal liability insurance covering leisure activities.
    • Purchases made from service providers (tickets, accommodation, activities) are contracts between the family and the provider.
  • 6.Reporting, blocking

    • The Report button is available on family pages, photos, reviews and in Baraza. The reported family does not know who reported them.
    • You can block a family: they can no longer message you or invite you.
    • We review every report. A report of a child being put at risk is handled as a priority.
  • 7.Sanctions

Depending on the seriousness, and after hearing the family concerned:

    • a warning;
    • a 30-day suspension;
    • removal from Kwemou.

Putting a child at risk leads to immediate removal, without warning. We may also remove content that breaks these rules. A removed family may not come back with another account. If the family has a membership, suspension or removal for a breach does not entitle it to a refund (see our terms of sale, article 10).

  • 8.Your account

    • You stay in control of your account: you can edit it, pause it or delete it at any time.
    • Your content (introduction, photos, reviews, messages) remains yours. You authorize us to display it to Kwemou members, and only to run the service.
    • Don't share your login link or code.
  • 9.Membership

The membership terms (price, duration, renewal, cancellation, withdrawal) are set out in our membership terms of sale.

  • 10.Changes to the service and these terms

Kwemou evolves with its families. If these terms change significantly, we will notify you by email before the change takes effect.

  • 11.Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In case of disagreement, please write to us first at bonjour@kwemou.com: we will look for a solution together. For a dispute about the membership, you can also refer the matter free of charge to the consumer mediator (see our terms of sale, article 11).
