Trust & safety

We entrust our children to each other, we open our homes. Trust isn't optional; it's the foundation.

You join by invitation

A family joins Kwemou because a member family invites them and vouches for them, or after approval by the team. Every account keeps a record of who invited whom.

Children come first

  • Children don't have accounts and are never contacted.
  • We only ask for their first name and date of birth. The date is used for two things: knowing their exact age on the day of an outing (many venues price tickets by exact age) and letting you celebrate their birthday. It is never displayed: organizers only see their age on the day of the meetup.
  • Other families only see a summary ("7 children, aged 4 to 11"). Only organizers see first names, for planning purposes.
  • No photos in the public part of the site: we use illustrations. Photos stay among member families, and never without the parents' consent.
  • No first names printed on meetup T-shirts.

Locations stay private

The exact location of a meetup is only visible to accepted families.

We talk among ourselves

Every meetup has its kibaraza: a private chat space in Baraza, the community's messaging space. Only participating families can enter. The kibaraza is archived one week after the meetup.

Our rules

  • We respect families, their choices and their cultures.
  • We let people know if we can't make it.
  • We never share a photo of a child without their parents' consent.
  • No soliciting, no proselytizing, no propaganda.
  • Children's safety comes before everything else.
  • A family that doesn't follow these rules may be suspended or removed.
