Privacy policy

This is a translation: the French version prevails.

Kwemou brings families together, and therefore children. We collect the bare minimum, we sell nothing, and protecting children comes first. This page explains what data we keep, why, for how long, and how to exercise your rights.

  • 1.Who is responsible for your data

    Ronel Kouakep, sole trader (K-Twin Internet Business), 7 ter passage de la Sous-Station, 73000 Barberaz, France. Contact: bonjour@kwemou.com.

  • 2.The data we collect

    • The adults in the family: first name, last name, email address, country and city of residence, language and, if you wish, a family photo, a profile photo of each adult and an introduction.
    • Children: their first name and date of birth, nothing else. Children don't have accounts and are never contacted. The date of birth is encrypted and never displayed: organizers only see the child's age on the day of the meetup.
    • Your life in the community: the meetups you ask to join, who is coming to each highlight, your answers to the organizer's questions, the families you invite and those who invited you, your attendance, your reviews and the compliments you receive.
    • Special needs (allergies, diet, accessibility): optional, with your explicit consent, visible only to the meetup's organizers.
    • Your conversations: messages in the kibarazas, in Baraza, our messaging space.
    • Meetup photos, added by families, visible only to members.
    • Membership: your plan, your invoices and your payment history. Payments are processed by our payment provider: we never see or store your card number.
    • The newsletter, if you subscribe: your email address.
    • Technical data needed for the site to work: logins, device, security logs.
  • 3.Why, and on what legal basis

    • Running your account and the meetups (sign-ups, program, budget, kibarazas, emails): this is the performance of the service you request.
    • Keeping the community safe (approving families, invitations, reports, reviews, reliability): our legitimate interest, and yours, in protecting children.
    • My village, the families you have shared a meetup with or invited: it is used only to suggest these families and their meetups to you. You can remove a family from your village and hide your participation.
    • The newsletter, the founding families wall, special needs: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
    • Invoices: our legal and accounting obligations.

    We never sell, rent or share your data for advertising purposes. There is no advertising on Kwemou.

  • 4.Who sees what

    • The public sees nothing personal: no family names, no photos, no exact locations. Illustrations replace photos.
    • Other member families see your family page and, for your children, only a summary ("2 children, aged 4 to 9").
    • A meetup's organizers see, for the families taking part, the children's first names and their age on the day of the meetup, answers and special needs.
    • The Kwemou team accesses the data it needs to approve accounts, handle reports and provide support.
    • Our technical providers, bound by contract and using your data only on our behalf:
      • hosting of the site, Baraza, our audience measurement and our newsletter: Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany);
      • sending emails, including the newsletter: Resend;
      • payment: Stripe;
      • team email: IONOS SE (Germany).

    When a provider processes data outside the European Union (for example in the United States), the transfer is covered by the safeguards set out in the GDPR (standard contractual clauses or certification).

  • 5.How long we keep it

    • Your account: as long as it is active. If your family is paused for two years, we notify you 30 days before deleting everything.
    • Special needs: deleted 30 days after the meetup closes.
    • Kibaraza messages: a kibaraza is archived one week after the meetup; its participants can still reread the messages for 24 months, without writing. After that, families can no longer access it: we keep it on our servers, accessible only to the technical team, without consulting it unless required by law or at your request.
    • Invoices: 10 years, as required by law.
    • Ambassador applicants' documents: deleted as soon as they have been checked.
    • Technical logs: 12 months at most.
    • The newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
    • Webinar registrations (first name, email, language): deleted 3 months after the webinar.
    • Published testimonials: online until you ask us to remove them; unpublished testimonials are deleted along with the meetup's reviews.
    • If you delete your family's account: all of your family's and your children's data is erased, along with your village connections. Only invoices (legal obligation) and, in anonymous form, your published reviews remain. Your messages in the kibarazas also remain, anonymized and signed "Former member"; on request, we delete them too.
  • 6.Your rights

    You can at any time access your data, correct it, export it, erase it, object to its processing or withdraw your consent. Most of this can be done directly from your account (My family, Settings); otherwise, write to bonjour@kwemou.com: we reply within one month. You can also contact the data protection authority in your country (in France, the CNIL: www.cnil.fr).

  • 7.Security

    Passwordless login via a single-use link or code, data encrypted in transit, children's dates of birth encrypted in the database, team access limited to what is necessary, no photos or exact locations in public.

  • 8.Cookies and audience measurement

    • Kwemou uses no advertising or tracking cookies, and no social media buttons that would track you. That's why you don't see a cookie banner.
    • We only use two technical cookies, essential for the site to work:
      • the session, to keep you logged in (30 days on the site);
      • the language you have chosen.
    • To know which pages are read, we use Umami, an audience measurement tool installed on our own servers in Germany. It sets no cookies, doesn't follow you from one site to another, and only keeps anonymous figures (pages viewed, country, device type, referring site). No one but us has access to it.
  • 9.Changes

    If this policy changes significantly, we will notify you by email before the change takes effect.
